Your Life Is Not Your Own

12 Jul

Galatians 2:20 – 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

What an awesome scripture.  What does it mean?

It means that when you accepted Christ as your Savior, you died to your old earthly life.  Is this what Jesus wanted?

Matthew 10:38 – 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

I’d say so.

You see Jesus knows that we need God and Himself.  Why, because we are lost sheep and if we aren’t serving Him and the Father, we not doing what’s right.

Now I want to go a different direction with this scripture.

I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  With that part of the scripture let’s look to another to go with it.

1Corinthians 6:19:20 – 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

So we are to pick up our cross and follow Him.  We no longer live, but Christ lives in us.  We are not our own, we have been bought with a price.  That price would be the blood of Jesus.

You matter to God.  God is what matters.  Confusing?

Here’s where I’m getting at.  Your life on earth matters to God, but you have been bought with a price.  Your real life is in Heaven.  Only God knows the future of all.  He can see into the future.  He knew you before you were even born.

Here is what I believe and what I feel that scripture supports.  If your death ends up saving or brings more to the Kingdom of God than if you remain alive, you’re going to be in Heaven with the Lord.  Who weighs that out and makes that decision.  God does.  Do I believe He takes all into consideration?  Yes, like only God can.   Your life is not your own, you have been bought with a price.  Your life now belongs to God.  That’s a good thing.  You see you’re not going to die as a saved child of God, unless He says it’s time for you to leave this earth.  Your ministry and race isn’t over until He says it’s over.

However, I believe God can take you home for your own good.  I believe He will can you home for the good of others.  I believe He can take you home and will, if it’s what’s best for the Kingdom.  Why, because God and the Kingdom is what matters.

On the flip side, I believe He can use you as a miracle.  You can end up in a place like Joseph and think to yourself, wow, what did I do to end up here?  God assures us though, that he will never leave us or forsake us or give us more than we can handle.

Your life is not your own, you have been bought with a price.  Praise God that you have been and ask Him, “What can I do for you next Father?”
