One Foot On A Banana Peel And Another In The Grave

05 Dec

Are you excited for the return of Jesus for the Church?

If you came home to meet your family after being away for a long period of time and they didn’t want to see you, how would you feel?

Matthew 22:1-14 – 1 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.

4 “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’

5 “But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. 6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. 7 The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. 9 So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ 10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.

13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Now this parable was speaking of the Jews of the day.  However, when I read it, it still applies for the so called Lord’s people that are too busy for Him.

Be honest.  If you’re not wanting Jesus to appear because things are too good for you on this earth,
would you call that loving the world?

I don’t know how you can call it anything but that.

There is a crown for those that love His appearing.  That means that people that died 1900 years ago that loved His appearing will get that crown.  Those who don’t will not.

2 Timothy 4:8 – 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his
appearing.

If you’re not excited about seeing Jesus, how well is your relationship with Him going?

Put yourself in the shoes of Jesus when it comes to bringing home His own during the rapture.  How do
you feel about those who didn’t really like the idea of you coming back?

    Patrick,
Thanks for posting this blog. It’s got me to thinking and maybe I could get your viewpoint. I don’t see myself as one of the people who don’t want Him to come back but, honestly, it’s not in the forefront of my thinking. I’ve had well-meaning Christian people ask me (and others) “Do you think Jesus will come back this year?” I always answer, “I don’t know. My main concern is that I’m ready when He DOES return.” Considering all the brouhaha about that minister that predicted the Second Coming, which didn’t happen, despite the VERY CLEAR Scriptural admonishments that NO MAN knows the hour when Christ will return, it kind of gave us followers of Jesus a collective black eyeI . I have several non-believing friends on Facebook that had a hey day with that guy, which makes it hard for them to take us as Believers seriously.

I’m working on keeping busy and doing His will until Christ’s return. As I said, I’m not so concerned as to WHEN He’ll come back but that I’m READY for it. To paraphrase from some old gospel songs from years past, I want to make sure my ticket is bought. 🙂

I hope I didn’t ramble on too much. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Have a good week.

At varying times in my life I have more or sometimes less excitement for His return. The commonality in my excitement level is whether I’ve been in The Book. If I’m not reading and studying his word, I’m not feeling very excited. God’s word drives our excitement. It prepares us to share with others. It keeps us in touch with The Spirit. Open the bible regularly, study what it says and you will find your excitement level increasing! Mine has.
