1 Samuel 8:4-8 – 4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”
6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.
The people didn’t want God back at the end of the era concerning Judges. They wanted a man. They wanted to be like everyone else around them.
What did God say to Samuel? They’re not rejecting you, they’re rejecting Me. They have been doing it since I took them out of Egypt.
God wants to be your King! He didn’t make you to be your own king or chase after some other king.
So I asked you this? When you vote for people and they don’t serve God or make them a part of their politics, how does that bode concerning the above scriptures?
We in a democracy have a chance to examine those running for office. Should we ever vote for anyone who does not proclaim or reveal they are a person of Jesus Christ? No, as Christians we shouldn’t. A big part of why we are in such a mess in because of this very reason.
Is He number one in your life? Then make Him number one in your decisions.
