Matthew 14:25- 25During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
When do we sink in life?
I have an answer built on experience and even more what I have seen other’s experience in their lives.
We sink when we take our eyes off of the Lord. When we think it is our strength and our doing that is making our world go round smoothly, that’s we are in danger of slowly going under.
Jesus asks, “Why did you doubt?”
Peter saw the waves and the storm and took his eyes off the only One who could get him through the situation.
How did our world, our country, get into the situation it’s in? It took its eyes off the only One who could help them.
If you want to live for the Lord you need to keep your eyes on Him. If you don’t want to live for the Lord, the storm is only going to get worse.
