We need to imitate the humility of Jesus

10 Sep

Philippians 2:1-11 – 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Whoever is the least shall be the greatest Jesus said.  What does that mean?  It means to care for others more than ourselves.  It means to be humble not proud.  It means to serve as He served, all in the name of the Lord.

That leads to greatness when we get to the Kingdom.

Ring Of Fire Seems To Be Pretty Active

07 Sep

Not only have large earthquakes been in the news, but now it there is a lot of talk that the Japan earthquake last year has put a lot of pressure on Mount Fuji.  They are concerned that it could become active.  Mount Fuji is a large mountain.  It’s just 2,000 feet smaller than Mt. Rainier.  To see the stories you can just Google Mount Fuji and push in the last 24 hours under the tools.  More birth pangs.

Psalm 49

06 Sep

Psalm 49:1-20 –
1Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world,
both low and high, rich and poor alike:
My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding.
I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound my riddle:

Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers surround me—
those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?
No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him—
the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough—
that he should live on forever and not see decay.

10 For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish
and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their tombs) will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations,
though they had named lands after themselves.

12 But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beasts that perish.

13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings. Selah
14 Like sheep they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them.  The upright will rule over them in the morning; their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.
15 But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself. Selah

16 Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases;
17 for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his splendor will not descend with him.
18 Though while he lived he counted himself blessed—and men praise you when you prosper—
19 he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of life.

20 A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

You read the New Testament and it’s the same theme.  It’s completely natural to want to chase after these things in our fallen state.  So what do we do?  You study the Word of God and meditate on it.  You go to prayer that you can live and be all the God has for us.

I don’t know if any of us will ever come close to our full potential, but it’s not hard to see now and throughout history those who attempted to and did a pretty good job of letting God work through them.  First rule to more success concerning all of us?  It’s about He, not me.

How Many Friends Does Israel Have in The Last Days?

04 Sep

Zechariah 14:2-4 –2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.  3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

How many nations are friends of Israel today?  If you said the U.S., this current administration is not.  Currently Israel is hanging on that thread of nobody hardly being in their corner.  Because they are the only democracy over there and because there is still some good support from the people in the United States they get a little support.  Canada is still friendly but not as much of a worldly presence.

Not even Hitler used the open language of his plan and the annihilation of the Jews as clearly as the leadership of Iran today.  Hitler also didn’t have most of the Jews back in their land or nuclear capability.  The President and the Ayatollah of Iran have repeatedly said they will use their capabilities to try and end Israel.

What has the world done?  Basically nothing.

Why?  Because they have the support of Russia and that could lead to a world war.

Who are the main big players in the last days to go against Israel in Ezekiel 38 & 39?  Russia which is called Gog and the old Persia which is now the Iran/Iraq area.

We know that Iran’s wishes are religious and spiritual.  But what about an unspiritual Russia?  Russia for the last 70 years has always been about domination and growing.  There is a nice south port down in Israel amongst the oil.  Many also believe that Israel is on top of a major amount of oil or in drilling distance themselves.  If your Russia that seems like an opportunity to further your goal.

Will that happen successfully?  As we read above, it will not.  The Lord Himself comes down to fight against those nations.

Israel has the most important Friend at that time.  A Friend that will keep His promise which He made to Abraham long ago.

Lift Your Hands And Give It To God

03 Sep

Exodus 17:8-13- 8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”

10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

When Moses brought his hands down, the battle turned against them.  When he kept them up in acknowledgement that the Lord was the power, they we’re winning to the point of victory.

Your life is on a battlefield rather you know it or not.  That battle is for the control of man’s heart.  Raise your arms and let God win this battle for you.  Don’t be trying to doing it on your own or you will lose.

The raising of your arms is acknowledgment, submission, shows faith, in the one Whom is in charge.  He wants your heart.  Give to Him and have victory.

The People Closest To God Know Better Than To Let Others Worship Them

31 Aug

Acts 14:8-15 – In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

11 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13 The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15 “Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

Here is another example:

Revelation 19:9-10- Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”  10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Many times you see people clowning around bowing down and pretending to worship someone saying they are not worthy.  It’s nothing to clown around about.  The Lord takes very seriously this issue.  Here we don’t worship Him enough and then people will go out of their way to worship idols or others.

We do have a Jealous God.  He has given us all we will ever need.  He wants to be loved and worshipped by His creation that has a free will.  HE IS WORTHY!  Praise Him all that you can and when you can.

Forgive As The Lord Forgave You

30 Aug

Colossians 3:12-14 – 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

We need to draw our strength from Him.  Loving and forgiving those who have upset you doesn’t come naturally.  But it’s only by forgiveness (of God) that we have the opportunity for the free gift of salvation.  God is Love.  Loving and forgiving makes things better for all of us.

Philippians 3:7-11

28 Aug

Philippians 3:7-11 – 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Paul reminds us that the best we can do is concentrate on Jesus and do our best to live like the Lord’s example.  If Jesus wanted us to live in luxury and for ourselves, I believe that would have been His example, but it wasn’t.

Matthew 16:24 – 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

The example was to put the God first, reach out and love others and show them the way so they may find salvation.

Series Of Earthquakes In Southern CA

27 Aug

We we’re down in Anaheim and had gone to bed when the Yorba Linda 4.5 quake hit at about 11:23 PM on August 8th.  My wife hadn’t been through one before and it wasn’t very big, but it was only 5 miles away from the epicenter.  She said, “What should we do?”  I rolled over and told her to go back to bed.  I let her know that earthquakes come and go, they’re not warnings of something to soon hit that’s bigger.

Ironically I’m looking online and twice this last month another earthquake almost the same size did hit nearby.  They were bigger than an aftershock.  Yesterday Brawley, CA had a 5.3 followed up by a 5.5 only less than an hour a half later.  August 11th, there were two quakes in Ahar, Iran 11 minutes apart that we’re 6.4 and 6.2.  However, we only had a couple of aftershocks the next day we couldn’t even feel, so I didn’t have to eat my words that night.

There was also a large quake in El Salvador of 7.4 yesterday or even today by the UTC clock used to tell the time.

Almost everyone who knows bible prophecy knows it that earthquakes are one of the significant signs of his coming.  They are like birth pangs.  They will happen closer together and more intense as the time of His coming approaches.

Matthew 24:7 –7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

God Cares About The Little Things

24 Aug

If you believe that God only cares about the big crises’ in your life and not the small things, you probably don’t have a close relationship with the Lord.  Our God cares about everything in our lives.  He loves us and never wants you to feel like He’s too busy.  He wants a daily communicative relationship with you.  Not a long distance check in when you have finally mucked things up.

Six Billion, Seven Billion, Ten Billion people, it doesn’t matter.  If he knows how many hairs we all have on our head, He has times for us all day long.

Matthew 10:30 – 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

A daily walk is what we are supposed to have with our Lord.  He wants you to bring all situations on your mind.  He wants to talk with you throughout the day.  God is the ultimate multi tasker.
