Bad Company Corrupts Good Character

03 Oct

1 Corinthians 15:33-34- 33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.

I wrote a short blurb on this last week and came across this scripture that could have been part of it.

Each one of us is a sinner.  That means we have to seek God and ignore our normal sinful ways or intentions.  Getting around things and tempting ourselves or putting ourselves in bad situations will pull on us.

We need to stay strong in the Word.  Those who are not are not in tuned into the Spirit of the Lord.  They want you to join them.  It’s kind of a mentality of hey if I can get Joe, Ralph, Susie, and Loretta to all do this then I must be in the majority of those I like.

Everything we do is important.  Every path we choose is important.  If we try to reach people for the Lord it’s important and if we don’t try at all it’s important.  IT ALL MATTERS.  We all have to have that mentality.  Even with that mentality we still struggle, but we are at least in the right mindset moving forward.

2 Timothy 3:1-9 is another good related verse to this. We covered this section in our Sunday School class yesterday. My summary of your “blurbs” and this scripture are that we need to be sure of our motives for who we hang with. Are our true intentions to win them to Christ? What are their intentions, to pull us from Christ? What is our ratio of spending time with these pre-christians to the time we spend in the Word? These questions will help us understand who and how we interact with pre-christians. Keep it up Pat. I enjoy the thoughts and scripture you share each day.
